Davide Bavati and Ellen Powers

Davide-and-Ellen.jpg

Our collaborative paintings are a combination of Davide's strong forms and Ellen's shaded details. Davide encourages Ellen to paint bolder and Ellen encourages Davide to paint looser. As the painting develops it speaks to us differently. We play back and forth, like throwing a beach ball to each other. Our ideas hover in the air until ultimately our collaboration concludes with a shared integrated sensibility. With individual approaches and styles we strive for a result that is edgy and visually striking.

Davide

I have been painting large canvases and murals all my life. I love to create art that has an edge and is visually striking. My intention is that my technique and subject choices appeal to viewers on an emotional level. Realism is the technique I typically favor, often with trompe l'oeil effects. I am most inspired by Rene Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, and Paul Delvaux. View Davide's Art

Ellen

When I was younger charcoals and pastels were the only medium I was comfortable using. More recently I have learned to lovingly create oil paintings. My subjects are typically domestic and nature scenes, and my technique is both realistic and impressionistic. I am most inspired by Milton Avery, David Hockney, and Camille Pissarro.
