Floating

Medieval
Oil on Canvas, 20" X 24", Ellen Powers
This is inspired by a visit to Mont Saint Michel Abbey in Normandy, France. The monks back in the 13th century knew how to choose a venue!

Getting Going
Oil on Canvas, 20" X 20", Ellen Powers
It's such a delight to see dolphins swimming together. I wanted to depict their sleek motion and gentle strength as they glide to their destination.

Yellow Bucket
Oil on Canvas, 11" X 14", Ellen Powers
Sam is my great-nephew and I adore him. Playing with him on the Lewes beach with the lighthouse in the distance made for a delightful composition.

MaryAnn, The Elephant, A Great Adventure
Oil on Canvas, 24" X 30", Ellen Powers
I love the juxtaposed vibe of bigness and sweetness that elephants seem to exude. Why shouldn't young MaryAnn take a trip?

Bike Bench
Pastel on Paper, 14" X 17", Ellen Powers
The Junction and Breakwater Trail had a bench that I treasured. After a peaceful bike ride I would write Haiku poetry in my head and stare at the trees. Sadly, the bench got a bit rickety and was removed.

RBG
Charcoal on Paper, 14"X17", Ellen Powers
The day after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in 2020, my niece and nephew brought their kids to pay their respects. I was touched by how gentle and serious their body language looked.

Law Breakers
Oil on Canvas, 20" X 24", Ellen Powers
The idea of two kangaroos standing on a cliff being told not to jump came to me in a dream. I wanted them to look perplexed and relieved.

Next Gallery?
Oil on Canvas, 11" X 14", Ellen Powers
I had such a fun time taking my adorable great-nephew, Noah, to the Guggenheim. He loved the contemporary art. He's a natural art critic too!

Let's Paint
Oil on Canvas, 10" X 10", Ellen Powers
I wanted to convey paint brushes that look triumphant and a tube of paint that look fatigued.

Buckley
Colored Pencil on Paper, 14"X 17", Ellen Powers
A dear friend's dog, Buckley, was ill when I drew this picture. I tried to show his warmth and vulnerability. He was a wonderful dog. Oh boy, could he fetch a ball!
